We are 15-20 minutes up a forest service road. It is government maintained–graded in the summer and plowed in the winter.
We have staff who drive low Honda civics up here so really any car is fine from spring through fall.
Gauge your confidence level.
In the winter, you MUST have a front wheel drive OR all wheel drive vehicle with GOOD snow tires.

Strictly no pets or animals are allowed. As much as we would truly love to have them, we have livestock guardians who we have invested a lot of time and money and training in to protect us, you, and our cattle, chickens and other animals on site.
Our dogs are working dogs. They are friendly toward humans but this is their territory and they can be aggressive toward other animals.
This is for everyone's (including all the animals) safety.

When you arrive on site, we’ll let you know which of our dogs and animals you can interact with and how to do so safely and respectfully.
Please note that some of our dogs are working dogs; their job is to protect the property, livestock, and guests. For their safety and focus, we ask that you do not approach, pet, speak to, or feed them. While it may feel kind to offer praise or treats, it teaches them to seek rewards for doing nothing, which can interfere with their training and their ability to do their important work.
Thank you for helping us keep our animals happy, healthy, and focused on their jobs.

Do you have wifi & cell service?
While we are completely off-grid, we do have Starlink internet. Wifi is available at our central community area where the spa, kitchen, dining, and gym equipment is located.
If you would like private wifi we can set-up your own Starlink at your cabin for a small added fee. This allows you to customize your time with us, whether you want to disconnect, or need to stay connected for work or something else. Our staff work and take video calls from it, so it's a pretty good speed.
We do not have cell service but you can switch your phones "wifi calling" mode on prior to leaving service, which will allow you to make calls and texts as usual.

Do you have power?
We are off grid but yes, we do have solar power (with generator backup).
All of our rental units have power. You can use it as normal other than we ask you not to use any external electric heat devices (boiling water, hair dryer, hair curling iron, clothes iron, etc). Electric heat uses a lot of electricity and drains the system.

What should I bring?
- Food; there are no grocery stores in Rock Creek (closest store is 35 minutes away), so make sure you pick supplies up on the way.
- Warm clothes; even in the summer, at our elevation it can get cold at night.
- Long sleeves if it's spring and bugs are out.
- Bug spray if you want it.
- Hiking shoes/boots if you want.
- Bathing suit for the spa.

What time should I arrive?
Please try to plan to arrive before dark — both for your safety and ours. The mountain road is unlit and winding, and finding your way in daylight makes for a much smoother experience.
We also live off-grid and typically go to bed early, so arriving before sunset helps us greet you properly without having to stay up waiting.
If you’re running late or delayed, just send us a quick message so we know when to expect you.

Where are the best places to stop on the way?
Rock Creek itself has a few nice spots:
Coffee: Rags, Relics, and Rutabegas, and the Rock Creek Trading Post (Excellent gelato and ice-cream at R,R,&R as well!)
Meals: The Prospector Pub
The Kettle River is a good spot for a swim in the summer.
If you're coming from the west (Vancouver, Kelowna, Osoyoos):
Coffee:
Gino’s Café; and Queen of the South.
Meals: The Bear, The Fish, The Root, and The Berry; and La Maqueza.
Gelato:
Roberto’s Gelato
(All in Osoyoos)
The Sonora Room at Burrowing Owl Winery has the best charcuterie board you'll every have (Oliver).
If coming from the east (Grand Forks, Nelson, Calgary):
Coffee:
Pascale's Baked Goods (Grand Forks); and Deadwood Junction (Greenwood).
Meals: Keg & Kettle Grill (Midway)

What is there to do around here?
Depending on the season, you’ll find plenty to explore:
Summer: Local farmers markets, river floats, hiking, and fishing at nearby lakes.
Fall: Stunning scenery and fruit stands along the Similkameen and Boundary regions.
Winter: Skiing or snowboarding at Mount Baldy (about 45 minutes away).
Year-Round: Osoyoos and Oliver wineries, distilleries, and restaurants are an easy 40-minute drive away.

What about cooking and food options?
That depends on where you’re staying:
Cabins include a small kitchenette with fridge and utensils.
Tiny Homes boast full kitchens with all you will need in there to make a feast.
A-Frames have access to our shared outdoor cooking areas.
We recommend bringing groceries with you — the nearest full grocery store is a bit of a drive, and options nearby are limited.

Can we have a fire? Do you provide firewood?
We love a good campfire, but fires are only permitted in our communal firepit when regional restrictions allow. We’ll let you know the current status before or at check-in.
When fires are allowed, we do provide firewood on-site. Please don’t bring wood from outside the area (to prevent pests).
We do provide propane fireplaces at some cabins - check your rental listing to see if your preferred unit has one.

Are there showers?
Yes — there are hot showers available, either private (in some cabins and the tiny homes) or shared, depending on your accommodation type.
We even have an outdoor shower beside the sauna, functional spring through fall.

What about toilets?
All accommodations have access to clean, well-maintained toilets.
Some cabins and the tiny homes have private bathrooms.
Our A-frames have shared flushing outhouse-style facilities nearby — rustic but tidy.
Please check your preferred listing to find out which facility you will have access to.

Are there quiet hours?
Yes. Out of respect for everyone (and the wildlife), quiet hours are from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
This doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a campfire chat or a bit of music — just keep voices and noise relatively low after dark.

Is the property accessible for people with disabilities?
Unfortunately, our terrain and accommodations are not wheelchair or mobility-device accessible at this time.
We’re located on uneven, natural ground, and some paths are steep or unpaved.

What should we do in case of an emergency?
In an emergency, call 911 immediately.
The nearest hospital is:
Boundary Hospital – 7649 22nd Street, Grand Forks, BC (about an hour away).
For urgent but non-emergency care, you can also go to the Oliver Hospital or South Okanagan General Hospital in Osoyoos.
Call 811 if you have a non-emergency, health related question to speak to a nurse practitioner.
